KidsMatter copyright and permissions policy
KidsMatter supports the dissemination of information to increase the knowledge of the general public and values and respects its own intellectual property as well as the intellectual property of others. Therefore, KidsMatter adopts the following guidelines for the use of KidsMatter copyrighted content.
1.Permission is granted
Australian schools are permitted to copy material freely for communication with teachers, students, parents/carers and community members. Material must be used in its entirety and must not be reproduced in any form other than which it appears on the website or in print. While every care has been taken in preparing this material, the Commonwealth and the KidsMatter partners do not accept liability for any injury or loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance upon, the content of this publication.
2.Permission is required
Permission is required for those wishing to obtain resources with a view to incorporating them into other documents, or translating or adopting them in total.
3.Permissions will not be granted
Permission will not be granted for any requests of adaptation or use of Identified Sections of KidsMatter resources for commercial activity. Permission will only be granted where the Commonwealth is satisfied that any adaptation or use will not compromise the Commonwealth or the KidsMatter initiative.
4.Requirement for attribution
Use or adaptation of KidsMatter resources must contain acknowledgement of copyright to the Commonwealth. Acknowledgement should include the following:
Author, title, copyright, and ‘adapted [or reprinted] with permission’

Acknowledgement should also include the following disclaimer:
‘While every care has been taken in preparing this material the Commonwealth and the KidsMatter partners do not accept liability for any injury or loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance upon, the content of this publication.’
The Commonwealth also requires that the Department of Health and Ageing receives copies of revised material prior to publication, copies of relevant research reports and copies of final revised material.
5.How to seek permission
Those wishing to obtain permission to use or adapt KidsMatter resources must do so in writing to the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. Letters must detail Identified Sections of the KidsMatter resources that are proposed to be adapted or used and must be signed by a person authorised to execute documents on behalf of the (requestor) of (location). Permission to use Identified Sections of the KidsMatter resources will take effect only upon written acceptance of this request by the Commonwealth. Letters requesting permission from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing to use Identified Sections from KidsMatter resources should be addressed to:

6.Original material
It is the requesting party’s responsibility to ensure that the material is original to the Commonwealth and that it was not reprinted with permission from a non-Commonwealth source.
