Information and resources

The resources relating to Component 4, Early intervention for students experiencing mental health difficulties, have been specifically designed by KidsMatter to provide parents, carers and school staff with useful information for assisting students and their families with children’s mental health difficulties.

The Component 4 resources comprise:

  • a set of six resource packs containing information and resources on helping children who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • information sheets (found within the resource packs) for parents and carers. These provide a brief introduction to specific children’s mental health topics and include everyday examples that illustrate the information presented.

When looking for resources on a particular topic, we recommend that you start with the information sheets. Then, to follow up your interest and find further information and suggestions, you can download the additional resources for the relevant resource pack.

The seven information sheets on children’s mental health difficulties are listed in green in the table below. The black topic headings indicate the relevant resource pack. You can access all the resources for Early intervention for students experiencing mental health difficulties by clicking on the information sheet titles.

*Please note: The examples and suggestions in the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) resources focus on children with High Functioning Autism and Aspergers Syndrome. In children with Autism, there is usually a much more marked degree of intellectual impairment. These children will require ongoing support and specialised assistance to succeed at school and in life.
