The KidsMatter Early Childhood Programs Guide has been developed to assist early childhood services to make informed decisions when selecting programs to support the mental health and wellbeing of children in their care.
There are a wide range of mental health programs available for young children. Some programs are universal (intended for all children), while others are more specific and focus on the development of particular skills (e.g., social and emotional skills). Some of the programs are designed for the children themselves, some for their parents and carers, while others are designed for the whole family to participate.
The KidsMatter Early Childhood Programs Guide is designed to help early childhood services navigate through all of the different types of program to find those that best suit the needs of their children, parents and carers and staff. Information about the evidence of the effectiveness of each program is also provided wherever possible to ensure that services have access to high quality programs.
