How programs were selected for review

Programs that are currently being used and/or are available for use in Australian primary schools were selected for review in this Guide. The search for programs included consultation with staff from a variety of regions from every State and Territory across Australia, as well as across all school systems, in addition to a search of various electronic databases and publishers of educational resources. The list of programs is extensive but not exhaustive, and the Guide will be continually updated with additional programs as they are reviewed.

Identified programs have been included for review in the KidsMatter Primary Programs Guide if they are specifically designed for primary school aged students or for parents, teaching staff or school administrators involved in the primary school community. In addition, programs are required to be widely available for purchase in Australia and, if a program has a compulsory staff training component, that this is also available in Australia. The authors of some identified programs chose not to have their program included for review in the Programs Guide.
