KidsMatter Early Childhood is a collaboration between the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, beyondblue, the Australian Psychological Society, and Early Childhood Australia.
Following the success of KidsMatter Primary pilot, on 5 October 2009, the Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon MP, announced funding of $6.5 million (GST inclusive) over 3 years to develop KidsMatter Early Childhood and conduct an Australia-wide pilot.
Over 100 long day care centres and preschools across Australia were selected to participate in piloting the KidsMatter Early Childhood initiative throughout 2010 and 2011. Flinders University will be handing down their evaluation of the pilot in 2012.
The Australian Government has committed additional funding to increase the number of participating services to 235 by June 2014.
