KidsMatter Early Childhood is a mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention initiative that was trialled in preschools, kindergartens and long day care services during 2010 and 2011.
KidsMatter Early Childhood was adapted from KidsMatter Primary, which has been shown to make a big difference to the mental health and wellbeing of primary school students.
The KidsMatter Early Childhood pilot was evaluated by Flinders University and the results of the research were released in 2012.
KidsMatter Early Childhood aims to help:
- improve the mental health and wellbeing of children from birth to school-age
- reduce mental health problems in children
- achieve greater support for children with mental health problems and their families.
KidsMatter Early Childhood was developed by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, beyondblue, the Australian Psychological Society, and Early Childhood Australia.
