Children’s mental health, learning and development are boosted when the adults caring for them work well together to understand their needs. To support these partnerships, KidsMatter has launched a free eLearning course that helps primary school teachers and early childhood educators engage with families.
Connecting with families: Conversations that make a difference is hosted by television personality Brian Nankervis of Rockwiz fame and is made up of two self-paced modules:
Module 1 explores communication skills teachers and educators may find useful in everyday interaction with families.
Module 2 focuses on managing difficult conversations with families and strategies to assist.
The eLearning package provides a practical framework and model to help structure these conversations, and also offers tips and downloadable resources to share with colleagues.
Health and community professionals may also wish to use the eLearning course and resources in their work with early childhood education and care (ECEC) services and schools; for example, by directing educators or teachers to the site.
