KidsMatter is designed to be driven from within the school community. Each KidsMatter school puts their own unique stamp on the initiative in response to the needs of their particular community.

Implementation of KidsMatter is a cyclical process. It takes between 18 months and three years to complete the first cycle. Each KidsMatter school forms an Action Team who are responsible for coordinating and ‘driving’ KidsMatter at their school. Schools are encouraged to ensure that the Action Team is representative of the school community and includes a member of the leadership team.

The Action Team Handbook is a comprehensive guide provided to Action Teams to support them through the stages of implementation.

For more information about the implementation process and stages, have a look at the following pages in the Action Team Handbook

  • 8-9 for an overview of the implementation process

  • 43-44 to find out more about the Action Team

  • 11-37 for more in depth information about the stages of implementation

  • 45-47 to find out about the 7 step planning process

There are also many resources and tools available for schools on the Primary pages of the KidsMatter website.
