A national collaboration

KidsMatter Primary is a national collaboration between the education and health sectors. It was jointly developed by the Principals Australia Institute, beyondblue, and the Australian Psychological Society (APS), with funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and beyondblue.

Principals Australia Institute (PAI)

Principals Australia Institute (PAI) is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, governed by the four peak associations of primary and secondary principals who lead and manage Government, Catholic and Independent schools across Australia. It delivers quality professional learning and resources to current and aspiring principals to help them achieve the best possible outcomes for their students and school communities. KidsMatter Primary is one of five national programs administered by PAI.

Australian Psychological Society (APS)

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is the largest professional association for psychologists in Australia, representing more than 20,000 members. The APS is committed to advancing psychology as a discipline and profession. It contributes to community wellbeing by promoting mental health and the benefits of early intervention across the lifespan. KidsMatter Primary is one of their children’s initiatives.


beyondblue is a national, independent, not-for-profit organisation working to raise community awareness and reduce stigma about depression, anxiety and related disorders. beyondblue works in partnership with schools and other organisations, and has funded initiatives such as KidsMatter Primary.

Department of Health

The Department of Health aims to achieve better health and active ageing for all Australians. It is responsible for population health, and aged care, as well as medical services, primary care, rural health, hearing services and Indigenous health. It administers and funds a number of mental health programs including KidsMatter Primary.
