An important aspect of implementing KidsMatter is the consultation process with your students. See questions and answers about the Student surveys.

What are the surveys about?

The survey asks students for their views about aspects of the school that relate to supporting student mental health and wellbeing. We expect that it will take about 10 minutes. For students in junior primary, the classroom teacher may read out each item.

Who should participate?

It’s good for schools to think about how they are doing things and to hear from all members of the school community, including students. The Student Survey R-3 is suitable for students in Reception to Year 3 and the Student Survey 4-7 is suitable for students in Years 4 to 7. Both surveys ask about aspects that relate directly to the areas covered by the four components. An invitation to take the survey comes from the school.

What happens to the answers?

The answers provided by students are completely anonymous and are stored securely by KidsMatter Primary and the school. Only summarised results that align to the four KidsMatter components are used for the purposes of informing school planning. KidsMatter may also use data summarised and reported at a national level in ways that inform the national development of the KidsMatter initiative.
